The critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is finally breaking new ground. Square Enix has confirmed that the massive world of Eorzea is officially making its way to the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

Warriors of Light, rejoice! The borders of Eorzea are expanding once again. In a monumental announcement for MMO fans, Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIV, one of the most successful and beloved MMORPGs of all time, is officially in development for the Nintendo Switch 2.

For years, the sheer technical demands of FF14 kept it off Nintendo hardware. However, with the significant power bump expected from the Switch 2, director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) and his team are finally able to bring the full, uncompromised MMO experience to a hybrid console. This means players will be able to run massive 24-man raids on their living room TV, and then seamlessly undock the console to gather materials or level alternate jobs on their morning commute.

The port will feature full cross-play and cross-progression with PC, PlayStation, and Xbox users, ensuring that the game's famously welcoming community remains unified. Square Enix has also promised a tailored UI designed specifically for the Switch 2's screen and controller layout. Bringing a game with a decade's worth of expansions and content to a new platform is a staggering achievement, and it guarantees that Final Fantasy XIV will continue to dominate the MMO landscape for years to come.
